Fate of the Universe, Age of the Universe, Dark Matter, and the Decaying Vacuum Energy

چکیده
It is shown that in cosmological models based on a vacuum energy decaying as a−2, where a is the scale factor of the universe, the fate of the universe in regard to whether it will collapse in the future or expand forever is determined not by the curvature constant k but by an effective curvature constant keff . It is argued that a closed universe with k = 1 may expand forever, in other words simulate the expansion dynamics of a flat or an open universe because of the possibility that keff = 0 or -1, respectively. Two such models, in one of which the vacuum does not interact with matter and in another of which it does, are studied. It is shown that the vacuum equation of state pvac = −ρvac may be realized in a decaying vacuum cosmology provided the vacuum interacts with matter. The optical depths for gravitational lensing as a function of the matter density and other parameters in the models are calculated at a source redshift of 2. The age of the universe is discussed and shown to be compatible with the new Hipparcos lower limit of 11Gyr. The possibility that a time-varying vacuum energy may serve as dark matter is suggested. In the current paper, we have studied the effect of dark energy on for-mation where dark energy exists in the background. For this purpose, we used both WMAP9 and Planck data to study how the radius changes with redshift in these mod-els. We used different data sets to fix the cosmological parameters to obtain a solution for a spherical region under collapse. The mechanism of structure formation f...

There are several observational evidences for the existence of dark matter in the universe. More than about 90% of the matter in the universe is in a form which is not directly observable. If the dark matter is in the form of weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs) or cosmions, part of it is captured by the Sun, other stars, and even planets. In this paper, some basic ideas of the cosmio...

Gravitational waves are considered in thermal vacuum state. The amplitude and spectral energy density of gravitational waves are found enhanced in thermal vacuum state compared to its zero temperature counterpart. Therefore, the allowed amount of enhancement depends on the upper bound of WMAP-5 and WMAP-7 for the amplitude and spectral energy density of gravitational waves. The enhancement of ...
متن کاملConstraining the Dark Energy Equation of State with Cosmic Voids
Our universe is observed to be accelerating due to the dominant dark energy with negative pressure. The dark energy equation of state (w) holds a key to understanding the ultimate fate of the universe. The cosmic voids behave like bubbles in the universe so that their shapes must be quite sensitive to the background cosmology. Assuming a flat universe and using the priors on the matter density ...

Key words cosmology – mass of universe; cosmology – cosmic density; cosmology – density of cosmic matter and vacuum energy The most recently celebrated cosmological implications of the cosmic microwave background studies with WMAP (2006), though fascinating by themselves, do, however, create some extremely hard conceptual challenges for the presentday cos-mology. These recent extremely refined ...
